HARVATERAS: SEX WORK STORIES FROM THE MARGINS

A boundary breaking short documentary in production about Filipina trans sex workers and the reality of sex work in Hong Kong.

Sketches of Trans Filipina (transpinays) sex work in Hong Kong that shed light on questions around agency, identity, and positionality. Through frank interviews, they reveal their honest thoughts, challenges, and attitudes towards the nature of their work and their clients. This film illuminates Hong Kong as a place of cultural interaction and consumer society of fantasy and desire. Intimate sharing around identity and work are supported with colorful visuals of both Hong Kong and Manilla’s vibrant nightlife. Shifting away from social morales, “Harvateras” is a boundary breaking short documentary about the reality of sex-work in Hong Kong, challenging notions of victimization as these Trans sex workers find empowerment and value in their work.
