THE MISTRESS

1999
The Mistress (1999) is a Cantonese Category III drama exploring female sexuality and objectification in a male-dominated society. The story follows Alex (Jacqueline Peng), an English teacher who becomes involved with a wealthy, married tycoon, replacing his current mainland mistress, Michelle (Vicky Chen). The film examines the emotional fallout and identity crises of women caught in these entanglements.

A feature documentary examining the relationship between the Chinese and Black communities in the American south during segregation, disrupting the black and white narrative.
